The great thing about that day was Ireland won the grand slam in the rugby we were watching it in Anthony Stokes pub The Players Lounge and everyone was buzzing and well oiled before the fight even got going, Taylors fight really got the crowd going and then boom we had 12 rounds of great boxing between two pure boxers ! They were made for each other imo a rematch would have been great !

Bumping my own thread again, hell! Great recounts you guys. I recently relocated abroad for work, I had limited luggage for stuff like boxing DVDs and the like. I made sure Dunne - Cordoba fight was one of the few I took with me. Allegedly (I wasn't there) the crowd pulled Dunne off of the canvas each time he was down...I remember reading about Reg Gutteridge writing about the same when (correct me if I'm wrong, I have two fights floating about in my head) when John H. Stracey was down against Jose Napoles...I might be a little out here, I read a great interview in BN about him, and this. The crowd at O2 were there in the ring with Dunne.

There was a knacker sitting beside me at the fight. When Dunne knocked out Cordoba, he gave me a big bear hug (no homo). The only time in my life that I've been hugged by a knacker.
