Default Worst Day Sparring: Boxing, Muay Thai, Grappling?

Which of the disciplines were harder for you in Sparring?

For me, a bad day sparring in boxing was worse than a bad day sparring in MT or grappling. MT sparring was not quite as severe on a bad day as there are more targets to attack and the punishment is more evenly spread out. In grappling, its considered alright to tap out so a dozen tap outs or so and its mostly your ego that takes a battering.

Muay Thai

I started as a boxer so the kicks and feints into kicks can bamboozle me when im sparring a pure Thai Boxer, my guard up top is pretty solid so if im sparring a better boxer i simply tuck up and move more, and put on my head guard

Deffo Thai for me

getting dominated at grappling usually isnt near the physical beating and as getting punched. having said that..kicks to the legs suck when your not use to it....however, i have never really been beaten up doing the stand up with kicks (ive never really done real MT) but boxing...in close battles with professional 200 pounders have left me kind of feeling messed up in the head for days and wondering why the **** I am doing this.

If you've had a bad day grappling with a big guy who takes pleasure in hurting people, I wish you luck walking for the next week.

Have to go with a boxing spar i had some years ago.
I had trained for maybe 4 months and the region champ use to train at the gym i trained at and he ended up sparring with some of the dudes there and i thought i could take him cuz he didnt look that good in my eyes to make a long story short the only time i got a worse beating was when i was around 10 and told my dad "I hate you you ugly son of a bitch".
I have been training some jits and the guys where not out to hurt each other so they let go when one tapped

in my experience muay thai guys tend to look after you where as boxers tend to take more liberties. it probably goes back to the thais being more humble.
ive sparred a heap of boxers who will play nice to start with but their ego gets the best of them and all of a sudden its not enough to just spar they have to 'win'

MMA sparing. I dislocated a 2 guys shoulder by sprawling , and cracked a guy's ribs with a light kick. All this happened in like 30 mins. All freak accidents.

I read somewhere that a guy somehow managed to crack his partner's leg by jumping guard. The guy didn't want to do a "normal" takedown and decided jumping guard would be the safest way to bring his partner down to the ground.

For me its grappling. Its tough if your with a big mean guy who's skilled. You can't just slow him down with a stiff jab or a counter.

Having a beating in boxing session can take it's toll on some. Experience is key

Depends on the skill levels and how much of a dick the other guy is. A guy who is a dick and wants to cause pain can extend it quite significantly whillst grappling that said. Who likes to get the **** kicked out of their legs?

Always BJJ, because it can take weeks, months, or even years to get the other person back. In boxing/kickboxing, you come in conditioned and on the right day, and you can land something.
