The sad reality of boxing for majority of Blacks who had no formal qualifications or education. Beau Jack, 2 time Lightweight World Champion, back when that meant a damn, headlined at the the Mecca of boxing Madison Square Garden a record 21 times more than any fighter in history, reduced to shinning shoes outside a hotel in Miami Beach, a job he had before he took up boxing. Cus D'Amato at the time trainer for Floyd Patterson saw him and decided to shin his shoes instead. An amazing and depressing photo.
