Benitez all day every day, far to slick & savvy when his mind is on the job. I'm a big Cotto fan but Wilfredo is a notch above Miguel. I just can't see what Miguel has got or can do to be effective here. He'l be dismantled IMHO.

Benitez was a top fighter like Hearns and Duran and Leonard,. Cotto is good but not at that level fighter. Benitez wins a UD.

Cotto's a good fighter, a very good fighter, but if we are talking about the best versions of these two fighting each other, then Benitez is a definite level above Cotto and wins with relative ease I would say.

Stylistically this is a good fight for Cotto. His two main weaknesses (punch resistance and fighting at a high workrate) shouldn't be too much of an issue against Wilfred.

That said, he'd lose wide on points if Benitez trained appropriately and felt threatened by him...

Benitez all night. more lopsided than even the Duran and Palomino fights.

Having watched quite a bit of Benitez over the last few weeks, I honestly don't think he'd have an easy time with Cotto at 140lbs or 147lbs. He wasn't quite at his best at those weights, in my opinion, and Cotto is at his most comfortable when he is allowed time to work. Benitez doesn't set a high pace typically, and although he could hit, he wasn't known for being a knockout puncher. Cotto would do well at mid-range with Benitez. It would robably something like a 8-4 decision in favour of Benitez, if both fighters were primed, but he'd have tough spots, and I wouldn't be shocked if he hit the canvas at some point.

Although I don't think this would be an easy fight for Benitez I still see him winning by a ud

Cotto would only do reasonably well if Benitez was in his laid back "do just enough" mode, which is reasonably likely.

If he was fighting with real workrate and purpose it would be a beating or lopsided outclassing similar to the Shields, Ranzany etc fights.

I like Cotto, but he was never as good as Carlos Palomino...so therefore Benitez shuts him out.
