Sugar Ray Robinson
Sugar Ray Leonard
Muhammad Ali
Terry Norris
Roy Jones Jr.

Ali

Jones
Norris
Taylor
Camacho

Not set in stone by any means, but just a quick effort. All are excellent.

I've always preferred Jones single shot sharpshooting to his combinations, the more extended flashy ones of which were often pure flash and tended to come out when an opponent was badly hurt, rather than be efficiently deployed throughout a fight.

Leonard could be the same with the extended flurrying, but tended to employ a better variety of heavy properly thrown 2,3 and 4 punch combinations.

Ali's hook wasn't always the nicest, but his one-two was one of the best, most consistently deployed combo's any of them threw.

Taylor an awesome volume puncher, but not much power and probably the least able to get them off quickly without needing to linger in front of an opponent. If he had been a big puncher...

Norris pretty well rounded here, though he tended to cuff with the right hand when he threw it in more complex combinations than the 1-2.Telegraphed things more than the others.

Camacho was the least authoritative overall imo.He never quite put on a Taylor vs MCGirt or Chavez volume punching show against an aggressor who wasn't slow or marginally talented, nor was he a real powerpuncher with his combo's on the level of everyone else.Except Ali, who had a more effective "pet" combo in his 1-2 than anything Hector had.

Robinson, You just dont see the combos he threw anymore his jab, left inside body shot was something special followed by right hook or even left hook.

Ali copied Robinson style
Leonard copied Ali style
Which tells you something.

Tyson deserves a mention his 3-4 combo body/body to head shots. Again you don't see these thrown anymore and if they do they have no where near the effect and precision.

Robinson - he had this great 1 2 then a left to the body and then another left hook as they went backwards and then would often catch them with another straight right on their way down. Sometimes it would be two uppercuts then a 3rd left uppercut which lifts his head up followed by a left hook to put him down for good and sometimes a right,
Meldrick Taylor had some great ones too though

I think all of them were great combination punchers, the difference I see is Robinson and Ali threw their combinations with purpose not to be flashy. Let me no forget tyson his was with purpose also but not as fluid. The rest of these combination punchers did it to put on a show, like lroa said the rest of the group would get some one hurt then put on the show to get the fight stopped a lot of the times. Robinson, Ali, and Tyson would throw combinations in hope the their opponents would exchange with them. They wanted the exchange because they knew they were better, supreme confidence.

Ah Jack Dempsey! his weren't very flashy or as fast as some of the guys on the list but were quick and very brutal, were not for show at all

I liked the way that Robinson and Mike put their punches together the best.

Power + speed.

I vote for SRR as the best combination puncher...his combo's were as deadly as a black mambas,...never those shoeshine type of deals.

Robinson, Tyson, and Leonard are the top 3, in my opinion.

All 3 of them had superb punch selection, punch timing, and punch placement in their combinations. Obviously, all 3 threw their combinations with great speed and power to further enhance the combination's effects on the poor soul who was getting whacked.

I think Floyd Patterson has to be added to the list of great combo punchers.

I think its ESB law that he must always be ignored if possible.
