@DFTaylor.
Broner is the star mate, whether its in manufactured land or not. He's the one with the HBO hype machine behind him. (& that's worth something whether you like it or not) If Broner is a shit as everyone makes out on here, why doesn't Ricky take the opportunity to beat him before someone else does? At the end of the day, Billy Nelson pretty much said Burns wasn't going to take the fight in Febuary no matter what. I find that Dissapointing. Is that allowed? I haven't abused Ricky or Billy, I haven't been rude or anything. I've just expressed my dissapointment & surprise at the decision.... How does that make me a ****ing twat? |

These guys sell out arenas and stadiums regardless of who they fight (well, not so much Floyd), and generate huge TV audiences on the back of their stardom. Broner doesn't. He's not even at Andre Ward level - hell, he's not even at Devon Alexander level. His career trajectory is alarmingly similar to Andre Berto, who also received similar hype, and everyone knows how he turned out. Quote:

Seeing as Hearn was happy to throw Barker in with Martinez, and to a lesser extent Rees with Broner..... I'm pretty sure if Brook had nowhere else to go he'd have thrown him in with Bradley. |

Ricky clearly feels he can get other fights and that the Broner fight will still be on the table. I'm not Ricky, neither are you. I'm sure they didn't just decide it wasn't worth it. It's worth the wait if they get purse parity (which Burns deserves). |

Frank really underestimates Ricky, he's a very good fighter and has a great chance of beating Broner.
It's such a shame he's with frank, potentially he could be the champion at 135 and go down as one of the great Scottish fighters. |

Don't get me wrong, I'm not suggesting Broner is a mega PPV star or anything.
Rightly or wrongly, America is the place to get recognised & Broner represents the opportunity for Burns to obtain that. Ricky has such a fan freindly style, you know the American networks will love him. I just hope he gets another shot, I really do. |

Absolutely....You've also got to take into account the "Ponce" factor, something that a large number of posters on here are very familiar with. Burns knows full well that if he goes to America to fight Golden Boys Golden Boy he will likely have to KO Broner to get a draw and this has to be factored into any purse demand.... a robbery has to pay well. The Ponce fight shows that Burns or Rees will have to put on a Pep like masterclass even to get a sniff of getting the nod.

Your a champion you fight the best or else vacate the title,lets be honest Broner will paste Rees and then HBO will want Broner in a big fight with Gamboa or an american fighter,they wont want another European fighter that most americans wont have seen,Ricky missed the boat..
