How I would advise Robert Guerrero to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Floyd's right foot steps forward every time he throws in that clip. He's lucky he hasn't been made to pay for it yet with an offensive just as he's swinging forward.

Look what round it is. By that late in the fight Floyd knows what he can get away with. You do not see him doing that in the first half of the fight. Its all apart of the adjustments he makes.

Esp. in the Cotto fight. The lead rights were not working real early, so he started to loop them. When Cotto adjusted Floyd when back to the lead right. I don't think RG is anymore the fighter Cotto is and Cotto could never get his feet set to take advantage.

I'm not favoring Robert to win, I doubt he'll do better than Cotto did, but that isn't the first time Floyd has reached when pressuring on the front foot. He has only a few bad habits, but leaning in with his chin exposed and lifting his rear foot when lunging is one of them. He's gotten away with it most of the time because most fighters would rather pressure than make him lead, and they walk right into it.

this is a bad match up for floyd. guerrero is big, dirty and strong. floyd will do wonders on the ropes. but, this fight reminds me of the castillo fight. u have to apply smart pressure on floyd to beat him. guerrero is like castillo, throws a lot of punches. they like to bang and dont give a fug if they get hit. there was a reason floyd didnt fight margarito after all these years.

Everytime Floyd fights someone says "this will be his toughest fight since Castillo" or "this guy fights just like Castillo"

Come on even if Guerrero fights exactly like Castillo. Mayweather has advanced since that fight all those years ago and will beat him soundly. The Ghost is going to need bring something more than that if he is hoping to win.

As for Margarito Floyd would box circles around him.....you're talking about someone who doesnt gas so you know full well he could do it for 12 rounds with no issues.

First of all for any fighter to beat Floyd they're going to have too be versatile and be able to adapt and mix up styles during the fight. If Guererro makes the mistake of trying to stay in close-range and inside fight with Floyd he'll get beaten up and possibly stopped late on.

I would have Guerrero first establish his jab on Floyd, as difficult as it may be it can be done. High hands and using plenty of footwork and feints to keep Floyd guessing, I would advise Robert throws quick flurries and gets out of range, as the rounds go on Robert couldn't keep this up as Floyd would adapt to it, the key here is to notice Floyds adaptations without giving it away, this is where the feints would come in, throw the flurries and step out and start again, but feint the next time around and watch Floyds movements.
Then Floyd will try walk Robert down at some point in this fight, by walking forward with his hands held high and try get inside, when Floyd adopts this approach I would advise Robert to throw a jab, lead hook, straight left to the body and step out. Whilst throwing this combination it is important that Robert A) keeps his hands high and B) moves his head with his shots, this will limit the chance of Floyd landing a clean counter.

The main plan for me would be to try force Floyd back using Roberts size and footwork, when Floyd is on the ropes throw a bundle of punches mainly aimed at Floyd's body, load up on the hooks and straights and jab out.

When Floyd tries to force the attack Robert should step out of range immediately, as letting Floyd work in will be bad news as Floyd would already know what punches and movements he will want to throw.

I think Robert could potentially beat Floyd on work rate, but will he? NO[/b]

Robert isn't disciplined enough to stick to a gameplan and lacks concentration as seen in his previous fights, Floyd will box his way to a UD 117-111 and beat up The Ghost in the process.

The best way to beat the shoulder roll is to punch in sequence rather than in assorted combinations(L,R,L,R). Repeated punches(L,L,L ,R,L,R,R) and lateral movement will cause the defense to turn into the punch. Cotto had success with this and i hope Robert has more to his plan than swarming Floyd. May is not as fast as he used to be, and letting him lead will also serve to ghost's advantage.

Id advise to jab floyd to the chest and body and vary his rhythm , keep floyd guessing on his rhythm .. Take advantage of floyd slow start, hopefully this will put the ghost slightly ahead in the middle rounds, forcing floyd to open up more to gain the advantage.

When floyd opens up he tend to leave his chin hanging out, when he forced to take the offensive when he behind or fill the score are tight.

Cotto has good timing and a great left hook. Strange how he couldn't counter it once and went solely on the defensive. Floyd's right foot didn't swing forward with his right hand in the first right he threw.

That kind of right can be useful against southpaws. If they slip to their right to avoid it, the orthy can put their forearm onto the lefty's neck and strain it. I also seen orthies head locking lefties using that right.

I think that was a round he won dominantly, so he was playing defense. He didn't capitalize since he was switching stances as he retreated, but he feasibly could have. Like I said, not the first time Floyd lunges into a shot out of position when pressuring.

Agreed, variation is important. It's why feints work so well; you time the roll wrong and it could be lights out, so Floyd prioritizes defense when feinted. And pressure is useful, but Guerrero's not going to win on the inside if he stays there.

Guerrero doesn't have the craft that Castillo had on the inside. Floyd, unlike Berto, would make room to punch, and get off a lot better.

Lets look at the facts Cotto put in a great performance against Floyd so you can't take that away from him.

Secondly whilst I'm personally not a fan of Guerrero per say he IS a champion and so is Mayweather so this fight isn't a bad one.

Because Mayweather is so good people hold him to a higher standard, Timothy Bradley hadn't beaten anyone at 147lbs but he got his shot at Manny.

I guess it's Guerrero's time too?
