Default Stamina

Trying to get my stamina up to start competing in the amateurs, does anyone have any advice on how to do this ?
I've start doing 100 Burpees a day in 5 sets of 20, working up to 2 sets of 50 then adding another set to make it 3 sets of 50 a day. Also doing a few rounds of padwork a day with a training partner. I run 3.5 miles every second day but i feel like this isn't working should i be doing sprint intervals instead ?

I enjoy the pain of pushing myself harder and i'm willing to do anything even if it kills me lol does anyone have any high intensity ways of increasing stamina, I'd really like to try them out.

Yes, add sprints. Stop doing so many burpees, there's no need. The jumping will also burn out your CNS which you may already be feeling.

It's about training smart not necessarily hard.

The 'scientific nonsense' that every other sport of the top of my head has adopted, from cycling to football (soccer) to athletics...

To the OP: Interval work is going to be the most effective work to improve your 'stamina' as an amateur.

In some ways boxing is kinda like a religion. Ignore whatever scientists say even if they have mountains of evidence to back up what they say, it's all a conspiracy!

Science. Who needs it?

I wonder how much of it is to do with the fact that boxing is hardly going through a 'golden age' at the moment, whereas training methods are the most advanced they've been due to science so people think "Scientific training method advancements correlate with a sub-par era in boxing...**** science". However, in science one of the first things we are taught is that correlation does not equal causation.

How much time are you spending each day on learning how to box?

Intervals are great but the number one thing you can do for your boxing stamina is to box. Sparring, pad work, bag work at high intensity.

Sprint for 200 meters, job for the next 100, then sprint again for the next 200 meter and so on. It might help you.

It also depends on you metabolism rate too. For someone like me, 3.5 miles, daily is also not going to help, as I can run all day long without a problem, hence I choose to sprint.

You can't go wrong with more high intensity rounds of padwork, heavy bag and sparring.

Sprints are good, but also try hill sprints if you can find one nearby.

8 - 10 x hill sprints: 20 sec sprints with 10 sec rest 2 x times a week.

1 x 5 mile run once a week

then high intensity skipping, sparring, heavy bag, floor to ceiling and padwork

=

STAMINA!
