Probably. He's in the top ten for sure. He ducked the following fighters, and they are listed in no particular order. Mind you, he could have fought these guys at the time they were the top challengers to his belt and other belts, but didn't. Manny Pacquiao Antonio Margarito Paul Williams Joshua Clottey Now, he very well could have beat all of them, but the fact is that he didn't fight them for one reason or another. Some people are going to say that he fought for the linear belt, which was more important at the time. I call bullshit. Even though Carlos Baldomir was the champ at the time, Antonio Margarito was a lot more dangerous in my opinion and would have made for a better fight. Then you have the Floyd boys claiming that he fought Gatti, Baldomir, and Judah during the time the other guys I mentioned were at the top. In my opinion, the guys he avoided could have gone three and "0" against Gatti, Baldomir, and Judah. And, I think it is safe to say that Gatti, Baldomir, and Judah could have very well gone 0-4 against the other four guys. Just my opinion. |

Interesting views guys, the comment "He's not even the best boxer called Floyd" was a particular highlight. But Floyd is the best of his generation, there's no doubt about it, look at the Gatti fight and the way Floyd makes Gatti look like a second rate amatuer. And Gatti was a skilled boxer-puncher, a lot of people watch the first Gatti Ward fight and immediately refer to him as a slugger but Gatti was a superb boxer puncher and a great fighter but Floyd made him look shit in the ring.
And I'm not one of the Floyd fanboys lol I just have a lot of respect for him as a boxer and the way he mastered the sweet science. |

Gatti was a decent fighter who couldn't even get by Angel Manfreddy or Ivan Robinson at his best, and he was far from his best by the time Floyd got to him. Real impressive show by Floyd, but it means about as much to his legacy as Ali's blowout of the literally shot Cleveland Williams means to his. That is, very little.
If you're to make the case for his greatness based upon a single fight, Corrales is the best way to go. Undoubtedly Mayweather's finest hour. |

Skillwise he might be the greatest. I can't think of a more technicaly sound boxer. If Floyd had Tommy Hearns power at welterweight people would be begging him to retire.
