The reason Froch won't move up is because I believe the same as what somebody posted on here earlier, it would take away all the advantages he has over opponents at 168lbs, just like the same thing that would happen to Ricky Hatton when he went from 140lbs to 147lbs.
I don't believe this "he weighs about 172lbs so he's too small" bollox. Look at him, he's a big, tall, muscular lad who could easily pack on a few more pounds of muscle. It's just Froch's whole style is based around him bullying and over-powering his opponents. You saw a fine example of it in his last two fights with Bute and Mack, he was just too strong and aggressive for them to handle. Fighters like Ward and Dirrell who are slick and hard to pin down caused him all sorts of problems because their styles didn't gel with his. If he moved up and fought some big guys at LW like Dawson, Pascal (I know Pascal used to fight at SM) or even Cleverly, I think it would cause him problems because they're all big and aggressive fighters too. I still think he'd beat Nathan at LW if he did decide to move up, he probably just feels like the risk isn't worth the reward and who can blame him? |

A bit strong but I cant disagree....I might even break my own self imposed rule and cross the border into Welsh Wales to watch Cleverley get a shellacking if the fight happened

Both Bute and Mack are without doubt natural LHWs....Froch was significantly the smaller man in both fights....Just because you are smaller doesnt mean that you cant overpower your opponent.....I honestly think that Froch would rip through the light heavies around at the moment.

I know that, it's just Froch has a lot of raw strength, more than Bute or Mack. You can tell just by looking at them standing next to each other, he's ripped as fuck whilst they just look lean and athletic. Dawson and Pascal though are both well built guys who look very strong, in my opinion I don't think Froch think would be able to bully them. I reckon this is why he doesn't want to move up, he doesn't think the adjustments he'd have to make would be worth the rewards. There's definitely more money in fights at 168lbs with Ward and Kessler. Just saying he COULD move up if he wanted too. Don't believe all this crap that he can't because he's too small.

You can't duck someone who isn't in your weight class. If Cleverly is desperate for a crack at Froch he should come down in weight.
Fact is, Cleverely has fought so much shit, even the casuals are starting to think he is a fucking joke (& they ain't wrong) Like any title holder at LH are going to avoid Cleverely. If anything, they are probably eying him up as the weak link. VVarr |

I'd love to know how Cleverly could actually win this fight.
Even Troyer surely couldn't put up a reasoned argument as to how it'd happen. |

***** is the num1 garbage talker, in the same article he calls out broner as a complete hype job saying burns would have him, I don't mind people giving opinions but in the sun articles he doesent explain ever why fighter a is overrated or why fighter a would beat b, just rubbish like froch vs cleverly is much better than froch vs Kessler 2

Froch is one of the few world champions who is absolutely perfect and comfortable at the weight he competes in.I've never doubted that Carl would lose a fair bit of sting if he moved up,and he makes 168 without putting too much strain on his body and is always perfectly on schedule when it comes to targets during camp. Too many fans nowadays take moving through the weights for granted. Why should a fighter at Carl's age risk fucking around with a proven formula to give a guy who couldn't draw flies round a hot shit a chance of recognition. The Fish will belt out his shite in The Sun where there's no right of reply but is he hard enough to come on ESB and see what real fans have to say? |

Cleverly is nowhere near the class of Froch. Not by a long way... |
