Do people really believe that when people come into this thread saying 'Irish boxing is shit' or 'x isn't even Irish' that they really believe these things ?, take a step back lads and simply realise people love winding others up.
I do love Arrans threads the lets all laugh at liverpool thread was the stuff of legend

happy new year lads, here's an end of year article I did for the paper. It's been some season for the amateur fighters, and even the word amateur will be gone soon. hopefully the pros can hit the heights in 2013.

Can anybody tell me what happened to Davey Joe Joyce as regards the Euro under-23s? I noticed at the time that the only two absent weights were his and Sean Turner's. Found out then that Turner made the decision himself not to go, but saw it mentioned on FB today that "what happened with Joyce" was scandalous (or something to that extent). Anyone able to enlighten me? PM me if necessary....

Dont think he was old enough.Had to be 20/21 to box in the Euros where as you can box from 17/18 at the National Champs.Im like yourself could be wrong and Turner had WSB obligations.

I'd say he must be old enough. Shur he won a medal at the worlds in 2008 with Jamie Kavanagh, Ray Moylette and Tommy McCarthy. They're all 22/23 I think. So even if he's a year younger than them he was still probably old enough. Just saw some fella mentioned it was a disgrace or something. By the way, as far as I know the headgear is gone for the men in the Seniors this year

The IABA said they didnt have the money to send everyone so Davey was only one who didnt get to go, he said he was being discriminated against because he left his old club where one of the top dogs in the IABA are involved and they were getting Davey back. Poor fella hes a top lad.

Wow, that's terrible to hear. Ya I noticed he was with a new club in recent years, but I wouldn't have thought DOR would be like that. A lot of his boxers are from different counties, so surely it's no surprise to him if sometimes a boxer wants to cut out travelling costs by boxing with a local club. Poor fella is right. Whatever the truth behind it is, that excuse from the IABA is pure bullshit
