: You had some thoughts on Khan's mentality going into the Garcia fight?
VH: Well, that fight was lost long before it was fought. At the press conference, when Angel Garcia was going at him, Amir should have been calmed down. |

I said the exact same thing. Khan was heated and wanted to hurt Danny for what Angel said.....Zab is showing the same signs that Angel has gotten under the skin of Judah which might cause Zab to fight with emotion if he's not careful.

He very well may be right. Khan fought more aggressively than usual.
Hopefully Khan doesn't try to pull a Wlad and refuse to engage for the rest of his career. |

Khan's chin isnt that bad, dont get me wrong am not saying its that good. But its good enough if he chose to box behind his jab, he could have been very successful, however he chooses, or chose particularly in the DG fight to fight like a brawler, to fight the way he fights, he needs a rios type chin. He has the natural attributes of a Boxer, He has the mentality of a Brawler, that is what Virgil needs to try to change, the mentality. If he can do that well, I fully expect to see alot more of Khan at the top level. Dont like the guy all that much, but want him to succeed, two things are for sure 1- Khan will always make stupid comments to receive hate 2- He will be in exciting fights, better the competition the more the entertainment for the fans. |

This is a simplification. Khan's mentality is a particular weakness for him because of his physical limitations (i.e. chin). Having a fighters mentality is excellent for someone with the punch resistance to allow them to impose their will on their opponent with a relatively low risk of catastrophic results. Khan can't do that, the risk is too high (hence the sporadic KO losses), he needs a mature attitude to temper his fighters instincts.
In this sense, Hunter is right, Khan's mentality was exposed so that his fighter's mentality would kick in, overriding the measured boxer's approach (which Khan has shown), and put him in a position where his physical limitations were much more likely to be exposed. |
