Actually, I take that back.
I've seen Mark Thompson before, on the Povetkin vs. Rahman undercard against Jack Culcay. In fact, he got off to an impressive start and was up on my card 39-37 at the time of the stoppage...which was a bullshit stoppage. It's him, another relative "veteran" in 16-1-2 (1 knockout) Rob Hunt, and a half dozen greenhorns with single digit unbeaten records. ![]() WAR THOMPSON!

Thompson has a great chance in this and his style should suit, I also quite like Gaynor he has decent sparring with Brook and must have a chance and the competition should suit Pearce who as stated comes forward and throws plenty.

Yeah, I'm for that (especially in contrast to having Harrison and Rogan in next month) but generally you'd expect to have at least heard of a prospect or two. I mean, I follow the British domestic scene about as much as any Yank and have never once encountered so much as passing mention of the names Eggington, Cooper, Gaynor, Evans, Foot, or Pearce. ![]() Between the eight men in, I've seen all of one fight. A bit unusual is all. |

Mind you, Thompson is a big obstacle. Not only is he the most seasoned of the field, he struck me as being a pretty good fighter who could maybe compete at Commonwealth or Euro level. He got shafted against Culcay, and so I'll probably be cheering him on to collect the £32,000. |
