It's a bit more than an edge though...if he were fast, Castillo would have been an absolute beast, I mean maybe #1 at bantam that there is, but he wasn't really that fast. Good at slipping, sliding, feinting, shucking quickly all that good stuff but he could be out-sped.

Well yeah...Nonito's speed would definetly cause him some problems, i just think he has the skills to to outbox him. "Whooping him" was a bit harsh ill admit. |

What did you think to Castillo-Rose, McGrain? Castillo coped quite well with Rose's speed, I thought. I mean, it was really close and Rose had plenty of success and everything, especially on the back foot with Castillo coming in. But I didn't think Chucho lacked a grip on it or anything. Like you say though, he wasn't lightning quick himself (although not slow either) and was so skilled and well rounded that pure speed might be one of the keys to undoing him, albeit not on it's own. Caraballo was very fast too, and it didn't help him too much, though I think he was starting to slip a tiny bit by that point.
I don't disagree with you as such, but I'd say Chucho was a h2h beast anyway in spite of not being lightning quick. I'd give him a good chance against any other bantam ever. |

That's true, that's true. And maybe Donaire is a little more fragile than we believe him to be. Castillo did have to walk through a lot of Rose's hardest stuff though (i had Castillo winning pretty handily i'm afraid) and i'm not sure he'd do that here.

Don't think Chucho would "whoop" Donaire, all things considered. Nonito is a special fighter, I think.
I'd still favor Castillo in a fantasy match-up, no doubt, but can't see Castillo laying a beating on Donaire myself. ![]() Still, R.I.P. to one of the greatest boxers to ever lace 'em up. Condolences to his family. |
