Not a great opponent but makes sense coming off him retiring Hatton, could sell well to the casual fan playing off that angle and maybe buy Khan some support.

This fight doesn't happen at 147, Khan has no intention of moving up in weight and Hunter has said over and over that if he can make 140 comfortably then that is where he will be fighting. Perhaps it might happen at 140 but I don't think Senchenko can make that and even if he could it would be an even more pointless victory if he has to boil down.
There was a suggestion of a Maidana rematch a few days back but that makes even less sense, the last thing Khan needs is to face a puncher, anyone with any type of power and a reasonable chin will simply try and walk him down and land a big hook. He should be fighting Malinaggi type opponents with plenty of guile and skill but not much power, then he can learn to box and not have to worry too much about walking on to a big shot. |

I don't know why Khan is keen on moving to 147, the guys are bigger and hit much harder. Khan seems to have no problem making weight. Peterson and Garcia weighed much more than him on fight night and they have no issues with weight.
Besides, Khan is not tall as some think, only 5′ 8½″ and probably walks not too far from his fighting weight. |

Lets see what happens..
Problem is if he really wants to rematch Garcia in Dec at 140 then going up to 147 and liking that weight then going back to 140 to face a fighter like Garcia could make things a bit harder. The only plus from this fight for Khan is home fight and decent pay, and another camp for Hunter to improve him. |

Lets be honest its a good fight for his debut at welterweight. I think he was talking about Ortiz or Lopez which was risky bigger hitters to be honest and Senchenko is a smart move especially with a bloated reputation after the Hatton Fight.
