His skills and power are top notch. The kid can box but even boxers get put into hard fights and its only a matter of time before he's in one. His defense isn't great. Not terrible but he can be hit. And keeping Salido in the fight when he had numerous chances to end it is not smart. Salido is dangerous if you have him hurt early you try and finish him you don't let him stick around.

Like I said, it's a fine line with someone as dangerous as Salido. People have tried to finish Salido after dropping him before, and he ends up knocking them out. Not to mention Salido's head movement reduced Mikey's accuracy from time to time.

Given Garcia is mostly a defensive distance fighter, stepping in with hard shots in spots that buckled Salido is a sign of pressing.

And again, he made a huge jump in quality of opponent. Any mistakes are forgiveable. A rematch (given Salido proves he deserves one in another fight) would be interesting to see how aggressive Mikey becomes.
