I go to boxing gym 3 times a week and focus on only boxing and sparring when I go to the boxing gym.
On the days when I don't go to gym I do my usual conditioning and strength workout and also shadowboxing to keep my skills sharp. I workout 6 days a week, and on Sunday I rest. But on rest days do you guys usually just rest and do whatever you want to do? Or do you guys also get in some light workout? And by light workout how light the workout should be for instance 12~20 minutes of light shadow boxing? Thank you. |

i do nothing at all, i shadow box wherever and whenever i want which is usually random because i feel like it. Rest day is for a rest imo but taking a nice walk will get the blood flowing at least.
It doesnt really matter just as long as you dont do anything strenous, besides you do train 6 times a week. |

On one of my rest days I go for a more active approach and go for a long walk, on my second rest day I spend most of the day slothing around.

Why do a steady state jog on the rest day? What's the point? It's a rest day- on my rest days I was that fucked I could barely muster the energy to have a shit.

Got to a fitness gym and chill in the sauna and jacuzzi for an hour or so and maybe do a few lengths in the swimming pool afterwards. Foam roller, massage, chill.

Clear out metabolic byproducts, reduce soreness, clear your mind and give yourself a chance to associate working out with relaxing. Doing nothing is the worst thing you can do for recovery, and most people who are motivated don't like to take days off. Going for a long run, bike ride or a swim is a way for them to feel like they're still doing something useful. Combine that with a foam roller or a massage and you have the perfect rest day.

Well, if you are worried about loosing your edge from resting one day don't. If you are feeling antsy and need to do something just take a walk or something. Rest is just as important as training. might even say it's more important. You train hard 6 days a week, take it easy man.
