Skill level between the two is off the scale. I actually had Harada narrowly ahead after 8 rounds. Rose's punches are so sharp. World class stuff.

Check out Rose Vs Rudkin when you're done; another superb 15 round clash!!!

I have Rose comfortably ahead now, but every round is still competitive. Harada has been getting there with his right hand more but he needs to close the distance. Rose dominates at mid to long range. Looks like a completely different fighter that fought Olivares.

He was done making 118 by that time. Parnassus offered Rose a fair whack to defend against Olivares' I think. Always would've been the outcome though.

By the way, unlike post-Sanchez Gomez Zarate was still in his physical prime against Pintor.
But not mentally - he was not the same unstoppable machine anymore.

I'd say pre-Gomez Zarate probably could stop Pintor somewhere in the championship rounds in a hard fight.

It's a tough task though.

Olivares was that good and that bad a matchup for Lionel IMO.

Well...Rose's performance against Harada was nothing short of exceptional.

Rose: 1,2,3,5,9,10,11,13,14,15
Harada: 4,6,7,8,12

Damn straight it was.

Now you can watch Chucho, Sakurai and Rudkin all arguably nick it off him in uber-close 15 rounders

Rose had his weight issues when he fought olivares and wasn't looking as quick or sharp as he had done, but his two main weaknesses...featherfisted and so-so chin would have meant he was always at a real stylistic disadvantage there.

You really needed to have a bit of a punch and get Olivares' respect at that time, or he would just wail away at you until you fell.

Rose might be the best fighter of the relatively modern era to have neither any power(at a good level) nor a good chin. There are other good ones(not many) but Rose circa Harada was a masterful fighter.

Indeed. Rose was landing really hard and really flush but he rarely had Harada's attention.

Yeah, and Harada could be hurt by non-massive punchers (Caraballo for instance)

Seems a bit of a shame. If only he had a bit of pop. Guy was dynamite.

Not like he underachieved though. Beat an ATG for the title (in Japan) defended against great contenders like Castillo (at the fabulous forum) Sakurai (in Japan) and Rudkin (at home, slightly iffy, but admittedly could've gone either way) and picked up a win at 135 against future champ' Guts as well as a few more decent wins pre/post title.

I think his style was all that because of his lack of pop. If he had a dig we'd be looking at a very intimidating fighter indeed!!!
