If I said it, of course it's a my opinion. You could argue Jones took Griffin lightly, but I doubt he undertrained. He was still motivated then and, as we saw in the rematch, it was a shift in attitude as much as ability.

That's why Jones doesn't rank so highly for me. He didn't utilise his skill set as fully as he should have or against a level of opposition becoming of him. Instead he complained about the money he made and the fact he didn't draw big crowds, as if it was his right.

Seriously, go read Budd Schulberg's articles on him - really fascinating insights.
