He does look to be in good shape, but like you said, he declined too fast in too many areas so expectations are extremely low.

Golota in his prime showed great foot work. I remember Duva commenting on what great legs Golota had, said he could have easily been a soccer player. He was definitely a great athlete back then. Of course he's looked pretty stiff and clumsy in recent years.

Yes I wish I could have higher expectations but he's shown how unbelievably shot he is in his last few fights and those fights were 3 and 4 years ago! Guess we will just have to hope Saleta is even MORE shot than Golota which is entirely possible.

If Oleg still has that hard right hand KO punch I think he would surely KO Golota. Golota just has no chin anymore. Sad because he used to have a great chin. But he's been either wobbled, put on his ass, or TKOed in the first round in his last 5 or so fights. Brewster must have shattered it. I'm still amazed he held up against Mollo.

Oh, Oleg would almost certainly stop Golota now.

However, throughout most of their careers I have always believed Golota would beat Oleg. From 2005 onward, though, I'd have to go with the Big O.

I remember in the late 90s there were a lot of boxing fans who wanted to see Golota vs Maskaev. The Klitschos were still relatively unknown so Golota and Maskaev were the only two eastern European fighters making noise in the division. I always had the 90s version of Golota beating Oleg with relative ease with Golota's superior skills at that time via late stoppage or decision. Oleg had one hell of a hard right hand so he could have hurt Golota but Golota had one hell of a good chin back then. It would have been an interesting match up at the time.

But these days I think Golota might struggle in a Golota vs Jack Basting rematch.
