Withthe whole alphabet soup and some top fighters not fighting themselves it's hard to fill vacanies in some divisions and there is some cunfusion even in the hardcore boxing world on the real rankings.
I'm sure there will be some debate here aswell but can we trace a lineage on all the divisions that we can? For a while The Ring champion was almost universally recognized as the champion but with their new championship rules the standards might not be enough t owarrant that status. So Martinez is the MW champion without question. For instance do you consider Danny Garcia the junior welterweight champion of the world? How about the heavyweight mess? What say you? |
