Channel 4 on Sunday at 21:00.
"(2010) Mark Wahlberg stars in this biopic of American welterweight boxer Micky Ward's struggle to become a champion. With Oscar-winning support from Christian Bale and Melissa Leo." |

GREAT film, imo.
The historical details are completely fudged, with some made up opponents and fights, and how Ward got the fight with Neary straight off the back of the win over Sanchez, didn't quite happen like that. But the gist of it is probably true. Bale deserved his academy award for this one. |

They miss out alot of the fights between Sanchez and Neary, 2 of which he lost. Also they claim the WBU is a valid world title, insulting proper boxing fans really. Top film though. |

That said it's a great movie. And they are gonna make a sequel portraying the Gatti fights. |

Bale is brilliant in which ever role he plays, I struggle to think of a film I have seen of his in which he isn't, The Machinist is particularly good. |
