Youre kidding right? Once in a lifetime phenomenon in
Heavyweights would be Ali or Tyson. I think the
phenomenon is the lack of American talent. Maybe
HW boxing isnt as popular especially with younger
people who would consider boxing. We all saw the
US olympic heavyweight debacle, although the superheavy
american won his pro debut. However he was a football
player, perhaps other sports seem more lucrative and
attractive. Perhaps trainers focus more on lower weights
because those divisions are stacked. Back in 2009 I felt
Arreola was rushed into a title shot, but I thought he had
a chance against Vitali. But after that loss Arreola didn't
improve his technique and is basically a club fighter.
Seth Mitchell is a hype job. Interesting study.
Less gyms? Haha I dont know. I mean the 90s
were so stacked with American talent, Bowe
Holyfield, Foreman, Tyson, Morrison, mercer.

Everyone is going to tell you that its because of the NBA and NFL, as if of the roughtly 150 million American men, they are all in the NBA or NFL.

There are two real reasons:

A) Americans are becoming lazier, fatter, and more cowardly every minute, and

B) It is virtually impossible to find a good amatuer boxing program in our pussified culture.

Ok, this is a new theory. Like all profession you can only improve by being around people above your own level. Americans boxers are notarious for not going over seas. So by fighting opponents around the same level, possible championship potenial is suppressed. Maybe some of the better prospects could campaign in Europe and explore.

A tiny, tiny percentage of American atheletes over 6 foot play in the NBA/NFL.

I think the NFL and NBA reason is a poor excuse

both leagues have been around since before the HWT golden era of Ali and US heavies were still good

even in the 90's big men still did these sports and US heavies still were top class

I think the state of US boxing has more to do with the state of boxing than the availability of other sports

America has good athletes and always will! It's just that most people dont wanna fight for a living. It's not like in the 70's every young male athlete was a fighter. It's a small percentage and always has been. We had 90% of heavyweight champions and now the tide has turned to Europe. The US will come back like it always has.

I dont know if theyd have all 4 belts maybe the majority but ppl act as if since the US has no title representation that they are suddenly horrible
