Default Sparring vid. Tips?

Have at me. Forgive the fact that we were doing extremely light sparring. I'm sure the flaws still aren't that hard to spot

Waaaaaay too tense.
Jab more.
Try to find your range better ( use your feet to get in and out of range)
You jab well to the body, but don't forget to mix it up.
Don't drop your right when you jab.

Just about everything is at beginners level, no offense.
You're trying to hard it just looks weird. You need to relax and grow into your own style based on disciplined movement, punching, feinting etc..
The video doesn't show much of your base, so can't judge your stance and footwork which is always top priority for beginners.

I don't know what you mean by "trying to hard". I was completely relaxed. I'm also not quite a beginner...more of an intermediate. I do appreciate you taking the time to critique, but I don't quite get what you're saying, aside from the part of not being able to see my base. The camera guy was too close.

Finally made it home, so I have a moment to type a more detailed critique if you're still interested.
By "trying too hard", I meant literally just that. Every move you make, you seem to have rehearsed in your head many types without actually having put it into both practice and action enough. It seems you're visualizing and thinking about every single step and then executing it. So you're not coming off naturally at all.
You guys danced to the left for the entire clip.
You're too one-directional once you decide to throw.
Your only way of entrance is to go way low because you seem to think or feel he can't reach you that way while jabbing the body.
You misjudge your distance and throw the rest of your punches way too telegraphed while over reaching.
There is absolutely no head movement unless you see punches already on their way.

The experience gap from you two may be a little wide, but you should make it a little more real next time. At least for you. Let him tag you a little. Walk him down. Perfect your timing, footwork, distance. keep him humble with a real jab. Hook him, spin him, tie him up, feint him.

Again, no offense, but from the light sparring you posted, I can only say your current knowledge/level is of a beginner.
There was a clip posted here earlier with some good sparring footage with very well disciplined guys with what I'd call intermediate experience.

*edit. Found the clip

BORKED lol crap I don't know how to embed videos

The black guy is so open when he jabs to your body quick right over the top same when he throws a regular jab he dosent duck his head down and protect his chin with his shoulder so throw a right counter over that as well, he beat me too it but when he misses a right to the body throw a left hook, when you jab make sure its like this where your chin is good but move your opposite glove infront of your face to protect from a counter jab by him

Im pretty sure he was trying to mimicking Jersey Joe Walcott am i right ??

And dont do what you did at 1:25 with your left arm cause youll get a right to the body and probably a left to the solar plexus and it feels like shit, maybe just elbow and forearm resting along your body and hands on cheekbone

Maybe try more classic style too? like have an Ezzard Charles type stance it has a more built in defence

LOL the white kid is so open to the left hook all the time, especially when he puts his left hand guard up and drops his right hand to his waist, the other guy should have clocked him there

Agree if it were proper he woulda got beat up the other guy was taking it real easy on him, try perfect the classic stance first and then maybe mess around and showboat a bit like you were doing once your more better and more comfortable

very akward looking, looks like you're trying to hard to look fancy. You dont throw enough jabs, throw a jab, step in, throw a double jab etc. When you throw that weird hook you lean back Have more confidence in your punching. The pointless part where you were switching stances, you need to work on your basics. The way you jab looked really tight, loosen up a bit when you punch. It looks more of a push than a snap when you're jabbing. Well this is if you're the white guy lol
