What is known if Vitali had injures and had to pull out of the Rhaman fight. It’s not clear if the injuries suffered before ( Vitali wears a knee brace ) had anything to do with the knockdown. Vitali has sparred over 2,000 rounds. If this incident is true, it means very little. As far as double standards go, I'll never catch you. |

Marion Wilson, journeyman heavyweight who was seemingly impossible to hurt. He was once TKOed by a cut, but never KOed or TKOed other than that. And he fought the who's who of heavyweights.

Pinklon Thomas deserves a mention, only down once & that was after a monsterous barrage by prime Tyson.
Even when past his best Bowe & Holyfield used him as a punching bag & he didnt go down. |

Only thing with Wilson he tended to stick with 4-8 rounders and often just survive. He was down against Briggs and badly hurt by a Jeremy Williams uppercut, still a great chin but was not impossible to hurt.

your list and i like that you included your own criteria/justifications. one or two quick comments:
1)i don't think vitali took harder blows than chuvalo on film (or really even close) except for that uppercut lewis landed. chuvalo wasn't even fazed notably by a prime foreman going windmill on his face 2)if you include chuvalo's knockdown from Bonavena (from a push) you have to include vitali's knockdown against sanders (from a punch) *note: i'm canadian and no doubt biased like the list though in general and again, your explanations are sound |
