Why am I so shit in sparring?

I froze up today against a mma guy with weird fucking style and who hits pretty fucking hard.I didnt do shit,also he has 35 profesional mma fights.
But on the other side this thing happens,and next time it will be better.

35 fights? thats allot...is he at .500 or better..if he is he should be in the UFC.

he has 20 wins and 14 losses(all losses by submison,choke holds and armbars,shit like that) and all wins by tko LOL.
He wont be in the ufc,he would be lower enchelon fighter there.

I have this weird style where i hit the bags and pads like a pro, but spar like someone who's never laced up a pair of gloves.

There could be a hundred reasons.
I can relate. When I spar I sometimes get too concerned with conserving energy. So my shots sometimes land short, or half-heartedly.
Then when I compete, I actually try to kill my opponent. So I find i have more of a killer instinct when I compete.

find a sparring partner and practice how not to knock each others heads of & practice block & parry ,,,defense & attack moves
