Why didn't Adrien Broner go to the Olympics?

He turned pro in May of 08. Why didn't go for a medal in the Olympics? Did he fail in the trials or was it his own choice?

With a potential Gold Medal, he would be much more popular going into the pros and would've made more money from the start.

Lots of Americans just bypass the amateurs.

Medals dont pay bills etc etc

I'd assume he failed to qualify for the Olympics, they don't just hand those places out willy nilly.

that sucks, his got to make up for that.

His going to have to go up to Middleweight, something Mayweather cant/wont do.

Broner had mouths to feed he got like 5 kids.

His style is better suited for the pro game anyways.

Getting outboxed by smaller dudes probaly has something to do with it..

His workrrate wasn't that good intill he got cocky and confident in his ability

Would love to my hands on a few tapes of a young Broner in the amatuers aged 17-19

No wonder the American team been getting theirs asses handed to them as of late. Turning down quality fighters will do that.
