He stopped Murray in 8 rounds and looked great. You've got to remember this was when Murray was hot ****, WBC no.2 or something he was at the time and people were raving over him. Brandon Rios could only beat him in 11 rounds and didn't look as good as Kevin did.

The Prescott fight as well was a very good performance but I admit that Prescott is hideously overrated because of what he did to Khan. Still, Kevin showed good boxing ability.

I think Mitchell can be great fighter when his head is screwed on probably, against Katsidis he was all over the place mentally and when he fought Burns any opponent who'd have fought Ricky that night would have lost, unluckyily for Mitchell it was him.

Mitchell just needs to sort himself out, get away from FW, go back to Super-Feather and really put the graft in. If he does then he can win a world title, that's my opinion.

He is European level realistically.

Both times he has stepped up to world level he has been KO'd in 4 rounds so it is fair to say he is not at that level. He did box well against Prescott and Murray in fairness who have both got some decent wins on their slate. I think his problem is he doesn't really live the life of an athlete and to be a world champion in this day and age you have to do that unless you're freakishly talented and even then it'll show eventually like it did with Hatton.

Good point. He likes his ale a bit too much does Kevin and can't keep his weight down. I think Frankie Gavin is the same. You can tell by looking at him that he should be fighting at a lower weight and could make it if he disciplined himself more. I fear both of them are wasting their talent.

I thought KM looked great against Murray that night - but you shouldn't measure that with Rios' fight against him. Not only do styles make fights etc etc, but did you see the state of Rios before his s**** with Murray? Watch his Portrait of a Fighter, if you haven't already.

Rios is overrated by many on here, but I thought Murray would do it when I saw how bad Bam looked getting on the scales.

I really like Mitchell as a fighter, and think he has good talent

But he just isn't big enough at LW, Burns looks too strong for him

Do you think Super Feather is too difficult for him to make now ?

Will some different strength, conditioning, nutrition help ???

Mitchell is a classic example of not living the life, he falls short of world level but maybe if he got his act together he could maybe get one. (World Title)

Kevin Mitchell is where he is because of who he is!

He always talks about being dragged out the pub by his family and how he needed a boot up the ar*e and all the rest of it, but what is he doing in there in the first place?

Ricky Burns lost to Alex Arthur and KJ earlier in his career but he got back in the gym and became a world champion, he didn't cry and fall apart and go to the pub for 6 months. That is really the difference between a true champion and someone with talent who doesn't make the best of it. Even someone like Froch, NOBODY and I include myself in this thought he would do what he has done after watching the Magee fight. He isn't blessed with amazing reactions or super fast hands or feet but he is so dedicated to fitness and boxing that he has far exceeded everyone's expectations.

Mitchell is perhaps more talented than both of them but his attitude to the sport and the way he treats his body are probably what has kept him back. Having a good team around you is essential and I think Froch and Burns both have a lot to thank their trainers and families for in that respect.
