Who can Darren Barker face on March 9th at Wembley?
Out of the top 15 theres not allot of options available. Middleweight (160lbs) World Champion: Sergio Martinez (WBC) - Fights April 27th 2. Gennady Golovkin (WBA) - Just Fought 3. Daniel Geale (IBF) - Just Fought 4. Julio Cesar Chavez Jnr 5. Matthew Macklin - Will not be ready 6 .Peter Quillin (WBO) - Fight April 27th 7. Felix Sturm - Fights Feb 1st 8. Dimitry Pirog 9. Hassan N’Dam N'Jikam 10. Martin Murray - Fights April 27th 11. Marco Antonio Rubio 12. Gregorz Prozska - Turned Fight Down, Not Ready 13. Andy Lee - Turned Fight Down, Not Ready 14. Darren Barker 15. Brian Vera - Just Fought So out of the top 15 it only leaves Dimitry Pirog (WBO No.3) Hassan N’Dam N'Jikam (IBF No.7, WBO No.5) and Marco Antonio Rubio (WBO No.1) available. All would be good fights for Barker. Outside of that, a name like Jermain Taylor (WBC No.3, IBF No.15) would be interesting. |

I think Barker is the most talented of the matchroom stable. I think he'd beat Quillin without much problem, how he has a belt I don't know.
Pirog would be great, but hes probably going to get an easier fight to get him back to his level. Although after this fight there is talk of him facing Lee. Why not fight Lee in March then a big name in the summer? Feel like they are wasting time with him. |

Rubio would be the easiest fight of those. N'Dam N'Jikam would be a good fight, and Barker would be the overrated Pirog. All three of them are good bouts though.

I'd be surprised if it was any of those names to be honest, I think it'll be a Euro level opponent, they'll want him to get another win after inactivity and then maybe go on from there. Hope I am wrong though, would like to see him against Pirog who he could probably outbox to a decision. Geale somewhere down the line would also be a good and winnable fight for Barker. I like him and hope he can stay injury free as when he's on top form he's a great technician.

Rubio has a fight lined up against the winner of Quillin v Guerrero. Can't see him taking a risky fight when promised a world title shot.
It won't be anyone in that list. Someone like Zbik or Adama would be the best we could see imo. Probably will be someone even worse then an Andy Lee fight after that. |
