I know for myself that when I lift biceps heavy I have found my arms tighten up. You might say that is just anecdotal, but I have heard plenty of others say that as well.
No you ****ing idiot, you said don't do biceps then in the same sentence you say do pull downs and rows (Both work your biceps). So why isolate the triceps and and do lat raises as well? I know for myself that almost everything you say is complete nonsense. Your biceps are extremely important in boxing, without them you wouldn't be able to defend yourself, transfer power into your hooks and uppercuts, or pull your hands back after punching. I don't care about your retard anecdotes, every muscle is important. Go back to beating up kids fat boy

Like any single joint exercise I think they're pretty useless for an athlete (unless it's a rehab thing). I have seen some high calibre athletes do them in gyms but they're also just young guys who want to look good for the girls at the next music festival, the strength coaches certainly didn't advise them to do them

Judo athletes use them quite regularly (second to cleans squats bench etc of course) I'm talking Barbell cheat curls

Squats sure are highly regarded around here. How do you guys approach them? Fast, weighted, explosive ?

I'd imagine bicep curls are important for MMA fighters and bjj/ sub wrestlers

Curls all day everyday,baby.

Don't forget to take Celltech with your training as well. That adds like 30lbs of muscle in 5 weeks.

Sun's out,guns out!!!!!

I make sure to go down slow and controlled, but I try to come up explosively. If it's a lot of weight, then you won't be coming up that quick anyways, but I try to do them with power.

You only have so much engery to spend on lifting if you are also boxing..you want to make what you do matter. Bench press is ok, i would do a 5x5...core movement..abs..... also some poly drills for the your legs, squats too.....some leg press. some other guys can give you a full workout.
Johnstown really knows his shit.

This is all terrific for power and explosiveness.

throwing things is great for explosive power

check out a guy called mick coup who writes a lot on power development and he believes throwing heavy things explosively builds up punching power

I've seen Maidana doing BB curls, not that it matters but with around 40kg.
