Your biceps are extremely important in boxing, without them you wouldn't be able to defend yourself, transfer power into your hooks and uppercuts, or pull your hands back after punching. I don't care about your retard anecdotes, every muscle is important. Go back to beating up kids fat boy
so what is your boxing background again?

The reason one would do the other things is because they hit other muscle groups...trying to "work biceps" is a waste of time however. honestly though..the most important thing is to learn how to punch and hit heavybag.

throw a punch and feel which muscles flex..the bicep is a pretty small part of it...of course I am sure it comes into it..but its not the most important muscle...it is however visible, hence why people give it more importance than it deserves. I have had points in my life where I was lifting to try to look big and also doing some boxing for fun. I have found that when I was doing bicep workouts my punches actually got slower...

as far as Maidana...just because he does it doesn't automatically mean it's the best thing to do. My own experience has been that focusing on single body parts is a waste...maybe if you are rehabing a injury? other wise I wouldn't bother...the one muscle i will sometimes focus on is tricpe push downs..but even that..if you are doing bench press..shoulder press...and dips..you are likely giving all the work your triceps need (especially since, again, you have limited time and physical resources, and you need to have enough to do your sports specific boxing work, which is of course the most important thing).

also if he thinks "bulking" up anything increases power than he is off...high rep 15 rep lifting (which is what most people who don't know shit do) will give you body building muscle but only slightly help strength. That can be borderline terrible for a guy who is trying to keep weight as well.

Sad thing is i dont think what i said is that different than what dealt said...difference is i could actually hit a heavybag and he would look like a scarred women trying to swat away a bumblebee

I agree with this.. apart from the triceps push down part, that makes no sense. Research into boxing biomechanics with EMG shows that the contribution to punching power from the triceps is negligible so I don't understand why you'd want to focus on it.

I would be curious to see this research....I think the tricep comes into the left jab (I know my own left tricep has more definition than my right, and it pops out when I jab)...although if you are throwing it right..it shouldnt be a major parts (guys who throw the jab with a snap at the elbow use the tricep more, but they also dont have a good snap and they seem to get tennis elbow allot). Basically I think good old dips are awesome because they hit the triceps and many other parts, but not everyone is strong enough/lite enough to do that..so i think the pushdowns could be good while building up strength to do dips....although..in that case...one might just be better off doing partial dips off a bench.

Think you asked for it to be honest, and there are loads of them.

Forums are not for people that think they are right all the time! Some dont like people having a differnt opinion which is the whole effing pont of a forum!

Yeah dips are good. The triceps are actually least active in the jab.

I don't know what you read but it sounds like the information from an internet blog boxing 'expert'. What you're saying doesn't make any sense anatomically or biomechanically. The whole body adds power and speed through the kinetic chain, having lean arms or not makes no difference to anything, they are light relatively speaking and the difference in weight between a slightly bulkier arm and a lean arm would be insignificant. It's the last link of the chain so you don't have to put in any effort to overcome the weight of your arm if you're punching anywhere near correctly.

Power comes from the side, that is stabilizing the action, its that, that controls the movement.
