What about Tyszus loss to journeyman Vince Phillips, in the middle of his title reign?

This.

Kostya was a fantastic fighter, and maybe the most complete amatuer fighter I ever saw. He needed time to measure his punches, and optimal range to get the power that some think (wrongly IMO) defined him.

Where Hatton presents problems with that, is that his feet were fast enough for him to get inside on Kostya, and maul from there. Tszyu isn't a weak fighter by any means, but a prime Hatton was an animal in a clinch, physically powerful and imposing. Tszyu would push off, and attempt to fire punches but the thing is that as we saw when they did fight, Hatton jumps straight back in, not allowing full extension on Kostya's punches.

All in all, Tszyu has a much better skill set, but Hatton presents so many problems to him stylistically.

Not a fan of either, but the TS puts forward an interesting arguement.
I think Hatton chose his career very carefully. Now many have argued that, but I always felt that Hatton only took the Mayweather fight because of how Floyd looked against De La Hoya and took the Pacquiao because he felt he was going to be the bigger stronger man.
Hatton didnt seem to want to face Corley, Judah or Witter and spent a long time fighting fights that didnt seem to be furthering his career.

I guess it depends which you go for
Tsyzu for his wins over Judah, Mitchell twice, Gonzalez, old Chavez, Urkal, Hurtado.
Hatton for his wins over Tsyzu, Maussa, Urango, Castillo, Malignaggi, Collazo

I would probably go for Tsyzu, but that is probably because I enjoyed his style more

KT via late stoppage

I do think it would be competitive and would make for a thrilling watch, though.
