I do hard sparing once a week.It suits me great.
Btw its nice to see how old boxers trained but i wouldnt pay much attention to it.

For an amateur or just training for fun and fitness sure, but when pros pay guys to come into spar they dont do it to play paddycake, they come to go to work

Mikkel Kessler said in one interview that he spars once every 14 days,same as Martinez who does little sparring.
Everyone is different.Some guys like to spar often,some dont.

allot of mma guys try to pull the light sparring...its fine to figure out angles...but than you have to spar for real (if you are going to fight that is) totally different experience getting hit by someone who is throwing with bad intentions who isnt giving you anything for free. You can be in great shape, strong, great runner, bag work mitt work great technique looking good in lite sparring..and if you get into a real match and get hit for real..its a whole different universe.

Andre Ward, who btw beat the shit out of Kessler, is the meanest guy I have ever seen spar.

Martinez does 60 hard rounds still, and hes an outlier, not the norm.
