No one's quite touched on the real reason, which is money, the HBO contracts and Adidas dropped the deals with him. There was also death threats post Sep 11th. He was rumoured to have accumulated 100 million so didn't need to continue. Then while considering a comeback he got so fat and couldn't really be bothered to shift the weight

Hamed was a great despite being unfulfilled but should have worked with Herol Bomber Graham after Ingle

Why didn't Naseem Hamed ever fight properly again after Barrera?
- Was already on a long, steady decline (mainly mental)
- Fell out of love with the sport
- Barrera shattered his confidence
- Hand problems
- Awful management team
- Sponsorship issues
- 9/11
- Massive amounts of wealth already acquired

He was booed a lot from the start.
He seemed very vanilla in the Calvo fight.

BORKED

Naseem was very talented, but the Barrera loss (and his apparently unimpressive comeback against Calvo) just messed him up mentally and was so discouraging that he just turned away from the sport, I guess. It's a shame, because he was entertaining, and the match he had with Kelley is one of my all time favourites.

Naseem was a 2nd tier boxer. End of story. He had a career fighting other 2nd and 3rd tier boxers and the only 1st tier opponents he had were Barrera and Kelly. He didn't have the heart to fight a real opponent again.
This is a very good post except for the fact that Kelly was not 1st tier(except, of course, if it's a very weak era) by the time Hamed fought him as he'd been stopped once and drawn with 2 times in the 2 1/2 years before the Hamed fight by fellows that weren't world beaters themselves.

He did one for both American television and for the Brits back home. He was extremely gracious. Respect.
He doesn't have to make any excuses as his fans do it all for him.

I'm not obsessed with Hamed. The vast majority of the time, I couldn't be bothered responding to threads about him, and there are so many. All I did was ask legitimate questions about what was written. If you don't want to answer them, that's your problem. And if you don't like reading what I write, nobody is holding a gun to your head demanding you read and/ or respond to what I write. This is an open forum, you know. So sorry you're so sensitive concerning this issue. Btw, I love your above comment about Bungu and MAB, lol.

This is what you wrote. Barrera is 1st tier. Which one of Hamed's victims was on the same tier as Barrera?

The fact your laughing shows your ignorance. MAB hadn't got a particularly impressive resume pre-Hamed, his stand out win been Mcckinney. Bungu beat Mckinney twice and beat him before MAB, he was a champion for 7years. Ofcourse barrera deserved the decision against Morales, which would tip his achievement over. MAB had also been battered twice by Junior Jones.

Retrospectively MAB is Hamed's best opponent and he was the nearest prime and the most talented but his achievements at the time weren't that impressive

I asked you a proper question. If you choose not to answer, that is your problem. If you do not like what I write, don't read what I write. Nobody is holding a gun to your head forcing you to do so. And nobody is putting a gun to your head forcing you to respond to what I write. And if I were obsessed with Hamed, why do hardly ever respond to those threads dedicated to him? Quite honestly, I just couldn't be bothered. So sorry you're so sensitive concerning this issue. Btw, censorship is very dangerous in an open forum.
