Are you serious?

They were selling the amazing fight he had against Berto and his will to fight in that fight. Not the story.

Are you serious?

You think people spent 70$ a million of them because Ortiz growing up story?

STFU trashcan. Ghost is in no position to make $500,000 let alone $4 million. You are trash

Victor Ortiz made 2.5 million and the exposure guaranteed him higher paydays in the future. he was scheduled to fight Berto in a rematch for 1.2 million and after that fell through, he was promised a Canelo fight on ppv.
But he lost to Lopez for 800K.

Guerrero is getting 2.5 million and the opportunity to make more money in the future and more big paydays.

Yea Ghost should really take it. There's more to it than the money. If he looks good, despite losing, he gains fans, mo money.

you could make a case that ortiz's resiliance and strength could be a problem for floyd but devon does not have power, strength or the workrate to make this interesting. its going to be a boring fight. the only person that will beat a prime floyd is someone with the workrate like guerrero that can pressure and not let floyd dictate where or how the fight happens.

i would rather see floyd against jmm or even kirkland.
Ghost never even fought at 140 and he isn't exactly DOMINATING 147. He's had a win over Aydin (A fighter no ones ever heard of) and overrated Berto.

Their resumes are honestly very equal.

People may want to see Guerrero more because Guerrero brings more excitement in his fights while Alexander clinches/holds.

Still, almost no one knows Guerrero or Alexander!!!! They are not KNOWN at all and will not impact PPV sells in a positive manner!

Guerrero better be careful not to get greedy and price himself out.

The twat isn't even good enough to challenge Mayweather.

Ortiz got around 2m! Ortiz was coming off a more impressive win off Berto and is more exciting.

Honestly, do you think that if promoters thought it would buzz that they would be pushing Mayweather to take him on? Don't you think Mayweather himself would choose the fight? 40 million, another easy fight?

Come on dude think.

Quote:
Most casual fans are burnt out by boxing yes it's true because they do not give the fans the fight they want to see. But JMM has cut into the Manny/Floyd sweepstakes and any fight with JMM/either one will sell very well especially since JMM just did what nobody has done in the last 10 years. Knock Manny out.
That still doesn't mean casual fans dont remember the boring fight between Marquez and Mayweather where it was a 12-0 SHUT OUT.

Quote:
People are going to start to believe or think that JMM now has a shot vs Mayweather.

They realize that Floyd has deteriorated slightly and is closer to a loss than he's ever been.
Then they realize they fought and Marquez lost all 12 rounds vs a Mayweather who wasn't even giving it his all.

Quote:
Doubt it. With a decent undercard, it would do well over a million.

Pac/Marquez 4 did 1.2 (According to Bob), and that card had an atrocious undercard.
Pac Marquez 4 had history, controversy and close fights. Mayweather and Marquez have nothing.

Quote:
3. Although Marquez was utterly dominated (3 years ago), he's shown us that he's a better fighter since then and people may believe that he now can stand up to Mayweather. And plus, who is really going to remember that 12-0 shutout?

EVERYONE

Quote:
Like I said before, most casual fans only remember fighters for what they did last. They do not study the history of fighters.

They would love to see JMM/Mayweather again.

I don't agree with your "Hardcore fans want to see it, casuals don't"

I'm coming from the opposite direction

Hardcore fans DON'T want to see it because hardcore fans think that the same thing is going to happen once again

Casuals want to see it because JMM is now the #2 p4p fighter in the world and has shown serious knockout power (knocking out Manny) and they believe that Floyd will meet the same fate.
Completely wrong. That's why Golden Boy isn't pushing for it, that's why Mayweather isn't pushing for it.

Has Marquez even said a word about it?

Cause no one wants it.

Actually it was a combination of both if you didn't know

Even Floyd himself said "Golden Boy is replaying that same shit over and over again trying to sell the fight, Black parents leave their children all the time"

Not gonna read through 5 pages to see if anybody pointed out G is just earned the mandatory spot didn't he? What do you you think his share of 75/25 purse split would be? Probably MUCH MORE than $4 mill.

"Trying to sell" is the key there. Except that what sells to casual fans is Ortiz getting off his ass and putting Berto down and fighting hard.

What's funny is that I'm a Mayweather fan. But I'm sick of the retirements and these second rate fights now.

I'd say he should retire for good, but he's making too much to even consider that.
