There I said it. I am a TAD tired of people putting everything that they didn't get to see live on a pedestal. It seems as if the more black and white and damaged a fighters footage is, the better they are.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME? With todays technology advances in sports science, THERE IS NO WAY THOSE CAVEMEN COULD HAVE KEPT UP with todays fighters. It is what it is. I'VE SEEN MARCIANO, IVE SEEN LOUIS.. are you kidding me? They are nothing impressive. The only phenomenom that I admit was a beast was prime Tyson. Now Joe Louis here's to you, same with Marciano, same with Robinson, ![]() Prime Roy Jones, Prime Pacquiao, Prime Mayweather, Prime Trinidad, Prime De La Hoya, Prime Bernard Hopkins, Prime Golovkin .. WOULD ALL DEMOLISH THOSE FOOLZ. Last edited by Low Blow Combos; 02-07-2013 at 06:06 PM. |

In fact, a prime Fernando vargas would have also put up a fight against ANY of those BEST OF ALL time. Think about it.
Canelo too. Bam Bam rios would have gone to hell with Duran too. There is no gap between todays fighters and those oldies. << In fact, todays fighters are better. |

I agree man. No way Duran could beat a beast like Brandon Rios
and Benitez couldn't cope with the technical prowess of Andre Berto

you answered it yourself you cant compare the past to now the fighters today are fitter, can study fighters easily with more footage, diet is a diff world to then as are training methods, supplements (sp?) ect
those guys where tough as nails tho 7/8 fights a year, 15 rds, gloves that didnt give much comfort for those getting hit i dont think you can compare at all its not really a level playing field |

What we considered GREAT fighters back then and still consider, would get troubled by OKAY boxers and fighters today. AND BEAT DECISIVELY by the best of our generation. |

I hate Mayweather BUT I am sure that with chicken style (which is masterful fuk it there i said it) he would have beat all of them DECISIVELY. Who breaks that defense??!
And my answer to that is NONE of the fighters from that era and an actual fighter from outs called Emmanuel Pacquiao. |

-Advancement of boxing techniques -Workout equipment -Diet -Supplements/vitamins/illegal PED's (although they've been in use in pro sports since the '60's) -Film OH, and weigh ins. Carlos Monzon entered the ring as contemporary JMW's would, never at a modern day MW's weight. --- Rather than Marciano teleporting to 2011 to fight Klitschko, why don't we ship Klitschko back to 1945 and have him grow up and train under those times. Marciano KO, that's what... |
