And the commentators, betting agencies, boxrec, everyone on these forums and the rest of the media were confused also? Isn't it easy to be confused when the announcer said the fight was scheduled for 12 rounds? Isn't it incredibly amateur that anyone is confused in such a situation?

Apparently tittle involved boxrec had it as a twelve rounder seems to of been changed just before the fight or during and perhaps botha's corner were not informed until during the fight

Botha can easily argue he went easy in the opening rounds because he was conserving energy for the later rounds. This is a straightforward thing and there should be no confusion.

It doesn't say exactly in the article scheduled for 12 rounds but SBW is quoted here in the following:

"It's going to be an entertaining fight. It's a massive challenge. What's the worst that can happen? I get knocked out. At least I tried."

Having taken a first look at Botha with his shirt off, Williams said looks had little to do with effectiveness in the ring.

"He's crafty. It doesn't matter what you look like. Experience is the key ... I think his last four or five fights went the distance. He'll do 12 rounds pretty easy. Hopefully I can up the pace a bit or slow it down - fight it at my pace.
