Mcdonnel/hearn cant do anything to stop it. IBF will obviously approve it as its a unification fight.

dunno if that was aimed at me or not but i was the only 1 who had commented by then so i assume so.

i didnt slate him,i like mcdonnell and hes done everything right,cleared up british and euro level, he deserves nothing but respect. He would give it his all against santa cruz but i cant see him winning.

me thinking he would lose by a heavy margin isnt me slating a fighter, its my opinion.

Mcdonnell would get smashed by Santa Cruz, he wouldn't have the boxing skills or power to hold him off and gain his respect, and he'd be broken down having to fight Santa Cruz's fight. Cruz's body punching, work rate and stamina is something to behold, and I couldnt see Jamie lasting more than 6 or 7 rounds with him.

In saying that Mcdonnell definitely deserves this fight, he's beaten some solid fighters over the last few years, and less accomplished fighters than he have gotten title shots. Same thing with Ree's, both top pro's who have had to work hard to be in the positions they are currently in. Its just a shame its against Broner and Santa Cruz, whom neither have much chance against.

Nobody is slating anyone. Jamie is a local fighter to me and I've followed his career basically from the start but I don't think he can beat Cruz....he;s surprised me before though

Santa cruz is not that good imo,or not as good as a lot on here think.
If mc had power he would muller santa cruz, unfortunatly u need power as well as skills at this level

Santa Cruz is better than McDonnell in every department, especially in punch power. McDonnell's punches would bounce off Santa Cruz. I think Santa Cruz would wear him down and stop Mcdonnell between rounds 5-8.

What exactly isnt he "that good" at?

He's a monster of the most dangerous type, well schooled, very strong, punches well inside and out, jabs very well, punches in combination very well, has a good engine, good whiskers! the lad is a special talent

To beat Santa Cruz you have to punch and box with him, the man to beat Santa Cruz is not Jamie McCdonnel, nor is it Anslemo Moreno IMHO, if Jamie McCodonnel fights Santa Cruz he may never recover from the hiding he gets

I honestly think in 12 months Santa Cruz beats Mares in a beatdown

Donaire would hit Santa Cruz flush and accuratley while Santa Cruz was coming in, a lot! I'd fancy Donaire at this stage to take him out. Santa Cruz is tailor made for him
