If Floyd had Roy's skills he would have been ktfo by now also. Floyd is nowhere near his physical peak but can rely on his technique

Roy Jones Jr was overated. Was he good, yes. One of the best of all time, no chance. He had a reputation built on media hype after beating good (not great opponents).

Roy Jones at his best was not good, he was great. He also has 2 of the best names of the generation on his resume, that he beat easily. When you factor in what he was able to do in the ring, and how he looked in beating his opposition, you will realize it is more than media hype. The guy had true ATG ability. And contrary to popular ESB ramblings, his skills were showcased against quality opposition.

Ha! I don't think these guys have seen his fights and know who his opponents were.

I think if Roy was at his absolute peak now, this site would go into meltdown.

What's with all of the "he wasn't really that skilled" posts? Ha!

He wasn't skilled, it was just his athleticism etc. Maybe Micheal Johnson could have won world titles if someone had given him some gloves?

I've never even seen a guy like Floyd throw a 6 punch combo, that contained 3 uppercuts off of each hand.

These guys haven't got a clue!

Throwing double and triple hooks to the body and the head while backed onto the ropes has NOTHING to do with athleticism.

With 4 belts per division now is that really impressive though?

Look how any former and future SRR beat with one belt per division.

Pull up his resume, and compare it to other fighters of the same era, that fought in and around the weight classes that he campaigned in.

I've never seen you involved in a good debate on here. I only ever see you post two to three lines of hate, and then you're away.

I'd respect RJJ more if he didn't duck Steve Collins. He was shit scared of them, he knew Collins would have beat him.

Steve Collins: One of the most underated boxers of all time. Fact!

Cue the line about Roy's chin to be pulled out in 3, 2, 1...

What did Collins have though? He claims he was ducked in the late 90's but I'm pretty sure he didn't have a belt at that point, what could he bring to the table even at that point?

His physical attributes were part of his skill. A skill is the ability to carry out an action, which may be comprised of more than one technique or movement, with maximum efficientcy. He adapted his technique to the physical attributes he once had, unfortunetly as technical as his skills were they required every bit of his physical attributes as well because they were such unconventional skills which relied on inches and miliseconds of slipping and timing.

Larryx; You don't learn to throw triple hooks with no fundamentals. That's ludicrous.

Those 4 hooks, that 1-2.

He could do things in the ring, that literally no one else in history could do.
This, Roy was just on a completely different level to Floyd imo. Faster and much more powerful even pound for pound. If I really had to say who I feel the best ever boxer pound for pound to step into a ring I'd probably have to say Roy Jones jr, at the very least, has a very strong shout.

right, his skills co-evolved with his athletic ability. They were deeply intertwined. Take away the athletic ability and the skills are taken away in equal measure. People act as if these things are completely separable.
