Lets image the best Jack Dempsey..how does he stack up against two versions of Moore
1) Willard Dempsey (with a training camp to focus on a guy like Moore, south paw sparring and all) vs 94 Holyfield Moore (teddy switches the training over for Dempsey early in training camp). 2) Willard Dempsey (with a training camp to focus on a guy like moore, south paw sparring and all) vs 1990 175 pound Moore (weigh in the day before, was likely about 190 by fight night). We will say the Moore that fought Mario Oscar Melo. (Emmanuel Steward trains Moore for this fight). |

* Moorer
Anyway Dempsey realises he's fighting a black dude and jumps the hell out of the ring, oh ok ok we're assuming the fight happens? Moorer is better than anyone Dempsey beat and both fighters could knock the other out. It suits Dempsey as a match up as Moorer is going to stand in front of him and exchange. Moorer is technically better though with his jab, high guard and shorter punches and he could punish allot of Dempsey's mistakes. In some ways it's a similar match up to Moorer-Cooper so I'd say it depends on rule set. If Dempsey can knock Moorer down early and stand over Moorer he wins, if he can't Moorer can regroup and begin to pick Dempsey apart with his superior technical skills EDIT just noticed the 2 versions, I think the heavier Moorer almost certainly wins, too big |

Moored was good to watch more often than not but I really have no confidence in his chin , I take Dempsey by stoppage against both version's of moorer

Moorer has an excellent jab but he is too easily drawn into a firefight and noway does he outlast dempsey.
regarding the hw version of moorer being too big, was moorer ever really bigger than dempsey, by that I mean frame wise? |

If you've sparred with a heavier opponent, you'll know even fat guys can make allot of use of their weight if they know how to use it nevermind bigger stronger guys. Weight is very important in boxing

Height and reach not much difference at all and weight yes there is a difference but Dempsey can find that suspect chin

also the fact that moore was a south paw means that lead right hands and left hooks are your main weapons...rather than jabs..would help dempsey as those were punches he was good with

Because he didn't? Although he maybe he sort of did as he was a LHW too. But yes in the modern era he may bulk up if he didn't stay at LHW. He may learn to keep his guard up and jab but he didn't do any of those things so it's going into a parellel universe or making allot of our time machine
That's why it's difficult to compare fighters from other eras you have to allow for allot of factors Quote:

A jab is still a great tool against a southpaw if you know how to use the angles |
