I'm sure that any level headed boxing fan would agree that while WK's opposition could perhaps be a bit better it is still better than Haye's. Haye isn't even actively fighting so how can you go on as thoughhe is fighting better people? also Mormeck is considered one of Haye's best wins.
Haye and Mormeck fought years go though! Come on! But yeah Haye has nothing on his resume either. He has 2 good cruisers and a bunch of journeymen heavyweights. Monte Barrett,Valuev,John Ruiz were all over age 35. Cherrypicked!

But Wlad is simply milking his titles like the rest of these money loving pricks. Fighting low risk high reward bullshit fights.

Wach,Mormeck and now this Italian guy.

YEAH......all the while Fury was barking about the brothers, he was working the deal to fight cunningham.

even fury's team said not yet

Of 62 fights, he took 8 Oh's. Pianetta will be 9. It's just what he does. 12 others only had 1 loss. Boxrec obviously, but still interesting. I wonder if anyone has taken more Oh's?

Wlad has also scored at least one KO/TKO in every round 1-12!

Just because you never heard of him it does not mean that he is a bum.
Pianeta is a good boxer.

I wish someone would come forward and really push for a fight with Wlad. I suppose Haye would make sense but I can understand K2 not wanting to work with Hayemaker again. I'll certainly watch this Pianeta fight but it isn't a fight I'll be wildly excited about. The champ has to stay busy I suppose

Larry Holmes and Joe Louis had some worse title defenses than Pianeta.

Holmes title fights:

Mike Weaver (41-18 ) (1979)
Ossie Ocasio (23-13) (1979)
David Bey (18-11) (1985)

Joe Louis title fights:

Johnny Paychek (not ranked top 10)
Arturo Godoy
Al McCoy (3-3 in previous 6, not ranked top 10)
Red Burman (not ranked top 10)
Gus Dorazio (not ranked top 10)
Abe Simon (coming off loss to 15-11 Jim Thompson)
Tony Musto (was 2-4 in previous 6, not ranked top 10)

Why is Pianeta's fighting old McCall any worse than Ali fighting age 47 Archie Moore? Or Mike Moorer being KOed by an old Foreman?

Pianeta is:

BoxRec #17
WBO #9
WBA #12
- undefeated 28-0
- 6'5", 240 pounds (no blown up cruiserweight)
- young at age 28 and in his physical prime (no shot old guy)
- active, he fought 4 times in 2012
- a southpaw (more difficult style for the champ)
- a known name in Germany, makes the fight bigger there

Decent opponent for Wlad right now. I'm looking forward to it!

My guess is that it's to help prepare for a bout with Fury (Fury or Price until last weekend) . . . just my guess.

Pianeta is a decent world level fighter, the matchup would be OK, the problem is getting this fight after Mormeck, TT and then Wach. It's just a bad and long run, no world top 10 rated fighter on that list, it was about time we got to watch something bigger.

Anyway, a fight is always better than no fight. Enough with the talking and let's get it on.
