Knees should be allowed for sure. I can see the soccer kicks being illegal for the athletic commissions and getting it licensed though. People always go on and on about how ufc rules cater to wrestling but not being able to knee downed opponents really limits your damage.

What GSP wants to do with his idea is take down someone and keep them on the ground for the whole 15 minutes. The rounds makes a person like GSP who prefers fighting on the ground have to start all over.

hell no! the minutes of rest are huge for fighters' tanks. this change would make fighters rest during the fight even more than they currently do and that would be ****ing boring. the fights should simply be scored as a whole like they used to be in pride.

If people complain about lay and pray now, wait until it's the 13th consecutive minute of the fight and both fighters know they're only halfway done.

I'm 50/50 on scoring the fight as a whole though. I see the argument for it. But I also think that memory is pretty unreliable when it comes to properly assessing a 25 minute close fight The start and the end of the fight are weighed a lot heavier in your mind than the middle of the fight, that's just the way people's brains work. Breaking the judging into five smaller units ensures a lot more accountability, makes it harder to fix a result, and makes it a lot easier to identify a crap judge.

I like this idea. I wish they would do it with no stand-ups or separations. Do away with boxing judges jumping over to do mma. Hire compustrike people. 3 compustike people score the significant strikes, and you just average the score for points. One point per significant strike.

Knock downs are worth 4 points.

Then implement adcc scoring rules for the grappling.

I would like to make throws a higher scoring move than regular take downs. Maybe even 6 points. A leg trip is not the same as a suplex, even if you do wind up in a dominant position.

Just add all the points at the end of the fight, and there is your winner. I think this would be awesome. You get scored on production, and production alone. If you are inactive, you are not scoring. There would still be some subjectivity in regards to the strikes, but the grappling would be cut and dry.
He was exauhsted at the end of reach round especially later rounds. diaz not so much(as an aside he does triathalons for fun). he also rocked him near the ends of rounds 3 nd 4. no rounds saved him. Also jiu jitsu nd cardio over wrestling nd explosiveness in no rounds

There is some talk that GSP woke up sick on the morning of the Diaz fight.

Maybe they should take away rounds. They don't have rounds in proper wrestling after all

That would explain why he weighted in about half a pound heavy. Thank your for the clarification.
