Who ever would have guessed he would be this successful when his career was stalling 5-6 years ago? Dumping the poisonous relationship with McGirt, who just about stylistically ruined him, and moving up in weight has done him wonders.

Meanwhile, I've just never been impressed with Porter and never will be. Too much of a sloppy amateurish style, too impressed with his own athleticism, speed, and raw strength all belying a serious lack of skill. Yeah, he matched up favorably with Alexander but we already knew Devon was anything but flawless and that was a poor night for him to boot.

Me neither. But without the benefit of hindsight, given the odds I still think taking Paulie in this one was a good bet.

Actually in hindsight, the results weren't that surprising. Paulie has allways struggled against pressure fighters because he never had the pop to keep guys off of him. Broner and Judah like to box and allowed Paulie to stay on the outside, pump his jab all night and stay busy. Porter pressured Paulie from the get go and Paulie had no way to get Porter's respect. I expected the over more than the under but the results didn't surprise me.

I'm not saying Porter didn't have the right plan. He obviously did. But I didn't think of him as a pressure fighter. He looked to me like a sloppy boxer with some power. Maybe I just haven't seen enough of him. But he's got my attention now.

Yeah, he's not a pressure fighter per se but he does come forward and relies on his hand speed and power to throw combinations. I didn't think too much of him either prior to the Alexander fight as I also thought he was sloppy. But he's obviously improved somewhat or else he wouldn't have beaten his last two opponents.

He also started working with Conte before the Alexander fight, I think we know why he improved now
