Default Francesco Pianeta v.s Mickael Vieira 5/30

Not a bad fight... Vieira is on a 3 fight winning streak and is coming off a win over Gregory Tony. By the look of things Pianeta seems to be on heading towards a rematch with Frenchman Johann Duhaupas.

I don't know much about Vieria. By looking at his record, there isn't really much there. I don't give him much of a chance and it would definitely be interesting to see Pianeta vs. Duhaupas II. Duhaupas went on a good winning streak since Pianeta defeated him and he's currently 31-1. As for Vieira, I don't think that he is anything more than just a tune-up fight for Pianeta.

Yeah Vieria isn't anything special and I don't give him much of a chance either, but he's still a decent busy fight and a good set up for a rematch with Duhaupas. At least he's a good domestic level heavy and not some stiff, two wins over Fabrice Aurieng over Tony certainly isn't bad for the level he's fighting at.

Pianeta made short work of his last match against an overhyped undefeated German.
Don't know if Chisora will drop his EBU title, but love to see Pianeta fight for that again.

Maybe Chisora vs Pianeta if Fury beats Delboy again. I heard also rumours about a David Price vs Pianeta fight later this year.

Why is Price so keen on fighting Wladimir leftovers, it's only going to end in tears anyway

Well, it really shouldn't be considered as anything else than a stay busy fight for Pianeta.

EnergieVerbund Arena in Dresden has the capacity for 6.500 people, plus this fight will be the main event, so it's definitely a setup for some "bigger" fight for Pianeta which should happen next.

There is still no info on what's next, but Pianeta - Duhaupas II would be nice. Surely there are a couple of other options as well.

I want to see Pianeta vs an actual Piņata.

Pianeta defeats Vieira by a first round knockout.

Didn't get to see the match yet.

Pianeta is 30-1 (17 KO) now.

Impressive, not the fact he won but how early he took Vieira out.

Pianeta will never be world class but he's really not the bum some people made him out to be when he challenged Klitschko. He at least let his hands go and tried his best. Is he sitting down on his punches more or was he not as light a hitter as I thought I wonder?

He was never really a light hitter. However it's not the power that wins him these knockouts, it's his precision and accuracy. You could see in his match against Klitschko that he was trying, he even got to Wladimir a couple of times, but couldn't materialize due to Klitschko's defense. He was still landing at a good percentage which is one of the things Pianeta is known for.

He's also good at positioning himself and keeps the distance fairly well whenever he is able to materialize on his reach. People called him "garbage" and other names for different reasons, but their knowledge was obviously not one of those reasons. He's a legitimate top 20 guy and it will take more than just an average boxer to defeat him.
