Virus a professional pitcher in baseball will always throw faster than a minor league pitcher. So it is in pro boxing nobody is willing to work with a feather fisted boxer no matter how strong his chin is. What do you mean comes down to the individual your obfuscation is beyond comprehension.

A baseball pitcher gets to professional level based on his ability to pitch the ball at speed. If his pitching ability sucks he won't make it to the professional level. A boxer can have shite speed and power and still become a professional boxer.

It's that simple I can't see how you don't understand.

Everybody is different. Some pro boxers can punch pretty ****ing hard, others plain don't have power at all. Just because we label somebody a professional boxer, it doesn't mean they suddenly gain immense punching power like some posters have tried to say. That's my point.

are we talking about elite boxers or anyone who is pro boxer?

i`m sure that some amateurs have bigger punch then paulie malignaggi, but paulie would probably KO them in first round cause he has all other things

hard punch is just one of element that pro boxer needs, but its not a must..generally they all have it

The experience and technique of some pro boxers will make the difference.
But those two things i mentioned can be acquired even when fighting as an amateur.

Punching power depends on the person, and how they develop their technique.

I agree with greynotsoold.

On average, taking a consensus, making a generalization on pro boxers, and given my own experience in the ring sparring with low level pro boxers is yes, most pro boxers hits harder than the average Joe/amateur. In addition, they take punches better than the average Joe. Of course you can find pro boxers who were not heavy handed at all compared to amateurs, but again, as a general rule they are more-so.

anyway here are the three things that your gonna need to do well in the pros.

1.a lightning jab

2. Hands up

3. Coming forwarded

In Vegas the judges favor the aggressor. So if you don't have a lightning jab best of luck.

Every top level boxer punches with power.
Paul Malinaggi doesn't punch like Golovkin or Kovalev, but he still hits very hard compared with the average person, as he has good timing and EVERYTHING is improved by repetition and he's doing it everyday.

Richie Woodhall who was by no means a murderous puncher had his punching power measured and it was 2.5 times harder than the average of people tested for his size.

You take Joe Bloggs off the street and train him twice a day, for 6 months, he'll be throwing punches much harder 6 months down the line due to better technique and timing, and muscle contraction force improvement.

I'm not an expert, but I imagine that there are professionals that go in and HAVE to win a points battle since they have an inability to knock people out.

I could be wrong, but that's my opinion.

Ooh feel like fighting you now problem is that you're an old bugger like me.

You failed to clearly define an "average joe."

In my experience, the "average joe" is a fat out of shape, slob, that lacks discipline.

Anyone who has trained in boxing PROPERLY knows how to get leverage on their punches with their body weight to generate enough torque to throw power shots above and beyond their natural ability. The avg joe simply does not know this technique. The avg joe throws punches with brute strength but when you apply technique, that brute strength is channeled and reinforced with technique.

Let alone the fact that the pro boxers fitness level sb much higher than the avg joe.
