Default Is the fact that Mundine is NOT a Draw outside of Australia gonna Cripple his Career?

The big names are not gonna to come to Australia and Mundine is not a draw outside of Australia, hell the yanks hate him and the poms probably don't even know who he is.

I think Mundine will struggle to get those big career defining fights

He got all his career defining opponents at a stage when he wasnt quite ready in terms of maximum ability. I think he will struggle to get a name he wants now.

There are no super middleweights in the USA that are big names. the only super middleweight big name in the UK is Joe Calzaghe. For Mundine to succeed, he will need to retain his WBA Super Middleweight belt and hope that a big name at Middleweight or Light Middleweight will jump up and fight him. His belt is the only asset he has at this stage.

He will never ever get to PPV elite status, even if he might be good enough.
No one will want to risk against him and no one will fight him if they dont have to.
He isnt an easy or soft defence nor is he a big name.
He isnt exactly a spring chicken, and he is virtually unknown outside of Australia and certainly not in the U.S.
If Kess wins, I really doubt he will fight him again seeing he already beat him handily. If Joe wins, it just wouldnt be Joe's style to fight a guy like Mundine, he either goes for another easy defence, gets a another megafight with possibly Taylor, Woods, Tarver etc or retires.
Lacy wont be ready to fight someone like Choc for about a year and probably wont seeing he is a yank and no one knows Choc over there.

The second either Briggs or Green get some kind of title, Mundine is moving up and cashing in. Because if he waits out the big fights going on at 160-168 the only fights I see him getting are against top challengers or new belt holders once the big dogs move on.

This is where fighting guys like Nieves and Acosta hurts Choc because instead of consolidating himself when he has a bit of international exposure, he fights people absolutely no one gives a shit about. Casual boxing fans are fickle they can drop a fighter like that and jump on a bandwagon even quicker.

Lets not forget Mundine doesnt even have a real belt, he may have beaten a good fighter to get it but its nothing more than a glorified number one contender belt.

Well a big name (Kessler) already did come out to Australia to fight him, but I know what you mean

As they say, the US is the mecca of boxing (like it or not), and Mundine has never made any effort to break into the US market. But as previously mentioned, SMW isn't a popular division in the US just now due to their lack of competitors at that weight.

He is already known over there, but only as the guy Ottke KOd and for his comments on 9/11.

It all depends on what Mundine is aiming for.

1. Is he content to make a good amount fighting lowly ranked competition over here?

2. Or does he truly want to fight the big guns?

If it's #2, then he has to start making himself known in the US, otherwise he'll never get his foot in the door.

If Kessler beats Calzaghe, Mundine is stuck in the same position he is in now - mandatory to the true WBA SMW champ.

IF Calzaghe beats Kessler, then Mundine inherits the full WBA SMW title, like he did when Ottke retired.

Does anyone here really think he will want to risk the full WBA SMW belt against Calzaghe (if Calzaghe beats Kessler)? Remember, he made his first defence of his previous version of the full title against Siaca, and lost it. That will be at the forefront of his mind, and Calzaghe is a far more formidable opponent than Siaca was, especially if he has just beaten Kessler.

Kessler wasn't a big name at the time he fought Mundine though. A good fighter yes, but not a big name at that stage.

He was the WBA champ at the time, but true, he wasn't very well known at that point internationally compared to now

Depends what you mean by cripple. Every non american who wants to become a huge star has to go over and fight there. Katsidis is probably a bigger name over there now than choc. Soliman and Darchinyan already are because they have fought on US networks.

Yes it is but maybe not for long.

Mundine is going to play it safe.....he is looking for a Joe win over Kess so then he has a full belt.

It would be great if Joe and mundine had a fight but that may not happen.

When mundine is ready for a big profile fight against a fighter from the USA at SMW its Lacy, Green, Spina or williams. He should target one of the last three before the end of this year and then Lacy mid next year.

He should be able to get them to Aust like he did with Kess. Providing he wins the next two fights on this list his problem will be over.

Mundine is known amongst boxing fans, just check any overseas boxing forum. At the moment, no one gives a shit about him because of the upcoming Calzaghe - Kessler fight, nothing else matters in the super middleweight division.

Katsidis is probably a bigger name in the states. But lets be real, so was Hussy Hussein and Skinny Hussein for that matter, hell Lovemore Ndou and Billy Peden are bigger names in America, Paul Briggs. What does this tell us exactly?
To stay matter of fact about this, it may lead to opportunities, exposure maybe. I hope as a fan of Kats' that he takes advantage of his name a little better than the other mentioned fighters did.
