Quarry by UD. He would win fairly easily unless he cuts.

That's the real problem though.

I would pick Jerry to take that fight to, but his tendency to cut and bleed could be a factor. He did however, win fights against Patterson, Lyle, Shavers, Spencer, Mathis, Bodell, M. Foster, and Zannon. Although, Martin was a dangerous fighter, and rather talented at that, he still had a rather short run. Mostly due to his torn retina against Liston. Quarry had a far more extensive resume.

Of Course if it wasnt for Ellis, the eventaual winner, both Leotis and Jerry might of met in the final of the 60's Heavy tourney to find Ali's successor,
Barring Jerry's dodgy back, i think he would of caught up to Leotis, Jerry got better, i do not think Leotis did get much better.

I saw the Martin-Ellis bout during the 67 elimination tourney. Although
Jimmy stopped him on a bad cut, Leotis appeared to be coming on and getting stronger just prior to the stoppage. I wish he could have hung around until the early seventies at least. I always viewed him as a real-deal boxer puncher. A win over Quarry circa 1969 is not out of the question IMHO...
