At least the combat ki stuff involves taking full contact strikes, regardless of their silly explanations of "ki". Some of this other stuff is amazing in its absurdity...

I agree, MMA, even when becoming a bit deluded, has done a lot for martial arts development. Hope to see more stylistic variants like you though CT.

Quite so. In the next couple years, I'm hoping Wing Chun can pull itself together thanks to the magic of MMA gloves. Just start from Chi Sao/Chi Gerk and modify the existing Chi Sao/Gerk rules to allow full contact to the body and head.

Do you have any friends from that system?

As a sidenote, I have to admit that I love the "Bloodsport" movie. Guilty pleasure.

No, I don't. But I'd like to see it.

I train with some MMA guys because I am studying BJJ, but I really don't know too many combatants from a variety of styles.

Bloodsport was good for what it was, but none of the fighters' choreography, save for Chong Li looked at all effective, even for a Martial Arts B-movie.

Bolo Yeung is quite a physical specimen, was 51 for that film, is in his 70's now and looks very similiar, with just some graying hair and some wrinkles, still built...

Van Dam really kicked ass. When I was 7 maybe 8 it was taken that he was the best fighter on the planet in my school.

Yeah, it's not amazing. My dramatic buildup was a little tongue-in-cheek...but it's still the only footage of a Wing Chun guy actually fighting.
