Police Athletic League. They have them all over the country. That's why I find it hard to believe that they work out at a weight training gym and spar in the parking lot. The PAL clubs tend to have a lot of sponsorship behind them.

The Police Athletic League (PAL) is an organization in many American police departments in which members of the police force coach young people, both boys and girls, in sports, and help with homework and other school-related activities (wikipedia.org).

This is whaat I got from wikipedia.org. How do you train in boxing here?

The PAL traditionally has boxing in it, it's one of the oldest overall boxing programs out there. The PAL tournament in California is a national ranking tournament for USA Boxing.

I typicaly don't do anything if I'm going to get hit in the face. I usually just get hit in the face, or get hit on the side of the head. I know what I'm supposed to do, roll with the punch etc, but I just don't.

I understand you were some kind of highschool jock with football and wrestling..

But its not going to help you in boxing, you dont have pads, the best way to take a punch is to just get hit, really you should try and improve on your instincts and get better defense. Because most of the time if your already in the match your not gonna remember to roll with punches, your just gonna get hit.
I use getting hit as somthing to tell me "wake up, this isnt good enough", and just psych me up some more..

Pretty much, theres no way you should take a hit, cause you shouldnt get hit. My opinion.
