The kidnapper and eventual murderer of Priscila Belfort, sister of popular mixed martial artist Vitor Belfort (Pictures), confessed to authorities on Monday, according to Brazilian media.
Elaine Paiva, 27, admitted to kidnapping and murdering Belfort after receiving money when the gang she worked under was dissatisfied with ransom negotiations. Palva was arrested along with three others alleged to be involved in the kidnapping that took place in January 2004. Police are going search for the body on a small farm near Rio, where Belfort is said to have been buried. Hopefully this brings some closure to Vitor and his family. |

One of Belforts ex-trainers says that Belfort is a closet gay and became petrified before fights and hid in his locker room with the door locked, sometimes the whole team would force him out to fight, he was that scared.

Little Update. Some more Info.
A woman has confessed that she participated in the kidnapping and eventual murder of Priscila Belfort (sister of Vitor Belfort) who disappeared on January 9, 2004. The woman is 27 year-old Elaine Paiva Da Silva. She claims that Priscila was kidnapped because of an outstanding debt of $9,000 owed to a local gang of drug dealers. Da Silva has confessed to the actual pulling of the gun trigger after she was ordered to do so by the gang’s leader because ransom negotiations were unsuccessful. According to Da Silva, Priscila was eventually going to be murdered even if a ransom was paid because she had seen the faces of her kidnappers. The police Commissioner in charge of the case, Anestor Magalhães says that he believes Da Silva’s confession as she has given a lot of accurate details regarding the kidnapping and murder process. As Magalhães states, “Her confession was rich in details, especially on the kidnapping and captivity.” |
